Steve founded SGL to provide HSE and Technical Safety services to the global high hazard safety-critical industries.
Steve is SGL's Managing Director and Lead Technical Safety Engineer
Steve has over 18 years broad experience of risk and technical safety engineering support for greenfield and brownfield major capital projects oil and gas projects. Over the last 5 years, Steve has provided Lead Safety & Environment services to Offshore Wind HVDC and CCS projects.
Steve is experienced with being accountable for the delivery of effective and timely integrated HSE solutions and the provision of major accident hazards and effects management process relating to facility design and operation over the lifecycle of projects as inputs to Design and Operation HSE Cases.
Steve's overseas and project location experience includes West Africa, Central Asia, Asia Pacific, North West Europe and the Middle East with Designers, Drillers and Operators during various stages of design, construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning.

Andy is a highly experienced Independent HAZOP Leader and Facilitator. His key skills include managing HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, BowTie, PHR’s, FMEA, CHAZOP, CCHAZID, HAZAN, ALARP and SIL Determination studies (LOPA) in accordance with IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and IEC 61511.
Andy is an approved study Leader and Facilitator with Chevron (PHA, SOA and IPL), Johnson Matthey (Hazard Study Leader) and TATA (Process Hazard Review). Other notable Clients have included ExxonMobil (HAZOP & PHA Study Leader), ADNOC (HAZID, ENVID & OHID) and Saudi Aramco (Hazard Study Leader).
Andy has provided safety engineering consultancy services to the UK Ministry of Defence, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical (including multiple Top Tier COMAH sites), Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical industries.
Andy's overseas and project location experience includes Belgium, China, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, UAE and the UK.

Andy Read
Tony is a Chartered Engineer has more than 35 years experience undertaking safety and hazard assessment and design safety work on a variety of onshore and offshore oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical installations.
Over the past few years he has mostly served as an independent chairman on numerous HAZID, HAZOP, SOA and SIL/LOPA workshops. These have predominantly involved leading workshops for large oil and gas processing facilities, but he has also chaired HAZOP and HAZID workshops on a a wide range of other hazardous installations including fertilizer and polypropylene plants, chlorine storage facilities and wastewater treatment works.
Tony is an approved study Leader and Facilitator with Chevron (PHA, SOA and IPL). Other notable recent Clients have included KBR, Flour, ExxonMobil, SIPCHEM, SABIC/AN and Petrofac.
Tony's overseas and project location experience includes China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, UAE and the UK.

Don Reid
Don is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience of safety engineering, electrical, instrument and safety systems design, commissioning and operations in petrochemicals and nuclear industries throughout Europe and other world continents. Don has significant experience in leading safety / risk management studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SIL Determination and Functional Safety Assessment for major onshore and offshore Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and associated EPC companies.
Don is a certified TUV and Exida Functional Safety Practitioner and an approved HAZOP and LOPA study Leader and Facilitator with Chevron, BP Upstream and Downstream, Shell (HEMP 101 & 105 certified), ExxonMobil, INEOS, SABIC, Petrokemya, ADNOC and Petrogas.
Don's software familiarity includes PHA Pro, PHA Works, aeShield, Stature, ExSILentia, Total GRIF, FaultTree+ and Safecalc.

Seyi is a Chemical Engineer with over 12 years experience supporting and undertaking safety and hazard assessment work including managing HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP and SIL Determination studies for a range of high hazard industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, Hydrogen (electrolysis) and green lithium-ion battery technology.
Seyi is an approved Hazard Study Leader and Facilitator with Johnson Matthey. Notable Clients include Shell, Unilever, BP, Chevron, Technip, KBR, Northvolt and Ceres

Rob is SGL's Lead Risk & Safety Assurance Consultant
Rob is an Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Professional Process Safety Engineer with over 30 years of global risk management consultancy experience. He leads Solstice Global’s Assurance, Systems, and Project Delivery services, focusing on the development and implementation of robust Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) and major accident hazard management strategies.
With a consultancy background that includes senior leadership roles at ERM, Risktec, and Ramboll , Rob has spent his career advising high-hazard organizations across the energy transition, upstream/downstream oil and gas, chemical, and emerging commercial space sectors.
Rob specialises in helping clients navigate complex regulatory landscapes, from early-concept safety strategies and independent due diligence to operational safety cases and emergency response frameworks. Known for his practical, operational-focused approach, Rob works closely with project leaders and technical authorities to deliver cost-effective assurance solutions that ensure compliance without compromising agility.

Rachel is SGL's Lead Human & Organisational Factors Specialist
Rachel is a Chartered Human Factors professional and Organizational Psychologist with over two decades of experience designing best-operating practices for complex, high-hazard organizations. She leads Solstice Global’s Human Factors and Operational Performance capabilities, ensuring that human performance is treated as a critical component of major accident hazard management.
Rachel’s expertise spans the entire business lifecycle, encompassing Human Factors Engineering (HFE) in major capital projects, Safety Critical Task Analysis (SCTA), control room and HMI design, and the development of robust Safety Management Systems. With a career spanning senior safety leadership roles at London Underground, ERM, and SLR Consulting , she has successfully delivered human factors integration programmes for major offshore operators, chemical manufacturers, and the UK’s rapidly developing spaceport sector.
Beyond engineering integration, Rachel is a highly experienced leadership coach and change management specialist. She excels at assessing cultural maturity, optimizing safety-critical procedures, and embedding human-centered design principles that actively reduce human error and build operational resilience.

Diccen is SGL's Lead Drilling & Wells, Emergency Response and Safety Case Specialist
Diccen Sargent is the co-founder and Managing Director of the highly successful Isle of Man based HSE Risk Consultancy CPOGS.
Diccen is a highly sought-after Risk Consultant with over 30 years of experience in technical and operational safety across the global energy sector. He leads Solstice Global’s capabilities in complex drilling operations, Emergency Response, and comprehensive UK Safety Case development and compliance.
With a proven track record managing HSE for multi-billion-dollar mega-projects - including serving as TotalEnergies HSE Manager for the $4bn Dalia deepwater FPSO development in Angola - Diccen possesses unparalleled expertise bridging the gap between engineering design and frontline execution.
As an IChemE-trained HAZOP Chairman, Diccen is one of the industry’s foremost facilitators for high-complexity drilling scopes. He specialises in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), High Pressure/High Temperature (HPHT) operations, and deepwater exploration. Beyond facilitation, Diccen is a recognised authority on UK Safety Case regulations, routinely delivering successful Material Change submissions, statutory Thorough Reviews, and regulatory compliance audits for mobile and fixed offshore installations.
Steve and Diccen have partnered together multiple times over the last 10 years on a range of Safety Case and risk assessment studies via CPOGS. Diccen partnered with SGL as a key Associate in March 2026.
Diccen Sargent
Piers is a highly accomplished Chemical Engineer and Lead Safety Workshop Facilitator with over 30 years of global experience in technical health, safety, and environmental (HSE) risk management. Piers is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (FIChemE), a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), and an IChemE Registered Professional Process Safety Engineer (PPSE) and Assessor.
His extensive career includes serving as Chief Engineer at EniProgetti and Technical Director at ERM. In these roles, he managed major accident hazard (MAH) strategies, Safety Cases, and integrated Environmental, Social, and Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA) for multi-billion-dollar energy developments worldwide. Piers has a proven track record of executing complex safety studies alongside Tier-1 EPCs for the world's largest operators, including QatarEnergy, Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, and Chevron.
Piers frequently chairs highly complex HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and SIMOPS reviews for both traditional upstream and downstream oil and gas but more recently for green hydrogen generation and carbon capture and storage (CCS) mega-projects.
